Network Engineer in DALLAS, TX

Robert Half Technology, the world's leader in technology staffing, is currently seeking a Cisco Network Engineer for a 4-6 month contract with option to hire in the uptown section of Dallas.

The position will include support, installation and implementation of Network components throughout the client network. As this is primarily a Cisco network, extensive Cisco IOS configuration experience is required.

The successful candidate will be expected to perform upgrades and configuration changes to Cisco network devices including switches, routers, firewalls and access points. The position will also include day to day support and resolution of network related problems.

Interaction with other groups within IT and Development along with 3rd party vendors including telco’s to resolve problems will be also be required.

Proactive monitoring of network health and the resolution of any issues before they cause outages will be a major component of this position.

Incumbent will be responsible for supporting projects with specific hands-on QA testing as well as developing our long term QA strategy for our data warehouse. The candidate should have 4-5 years related experience in data warehousing testing, be familiar with writing and evaluating complex SQL, have a strong understanding of application development lifecycles, and have a good understanding of data warehouse concepts and techniques. The Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for identifying software defects and validating problem resolution through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply and maintain quality standards for EDW products.

Accountabilities & Duties:
- Ability to lead and demonstrate solid testing methodologies and team members
- Develops acceptance criteria to address needs of the delivery project team and the customer to ensure successful implementation.
- Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures. Develops and executes software master test plans and test scripts.
- Provides technical consultation on automation methods, tools and processes.
- Maintains documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of EDW and associated applications.

- Analyzes and reports test results to ensure quality of existing data/functionality for EDW.

- Works with programmers and business analysts in the development and implementation of system test plans and unit test scripts for software testing.

- Responsible for consolidation of test results, procedures.
Specific Roles & Responsibilities:
. Map test cases to application, technical or functional based requirements
. Summarize test pass execution against builds or releases
. Attend any project meetings and discuss findings during testing
. Write detailed test cases with reusability as a goal for the test case
. Execute test cases as determined by the QA lead or by the project team
. Assist in maintaining test case libraries
. Assist in post production implementation testing during company maintenance windows
. Training fellow QA staff members on application changes
. Attend QA staff meetings
. Lead a team of Testers and own overall quality of a feature set.
. Work with other Test Engineers to insure overall test coverage.
. Work with developers/program manager to learn a feature's requirements.
. Review code to develop tests.
. Act as the primary technical resource for the Test team.
. Mentor junior members of the Test team.
. Develop and maintain test plans based on requirements, specifications, documentation, and white board sessions.


REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
-Excellent problem solving skills, logical process thinking and end-to-end system concepts.

-Knowledge of industry test standards and automated tools and methods that facilitate testing of software, load, performance, stress and capacity.

-Knowledge of data warehousing and complex SQL.

-Ability to delegate work to less experienced team members; proven leadership ability.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Use of complex SQL using RDBMS functions.

- Good knowledge of RDBMS Explain to analyze and improve query performance.

- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Cognos, Business Objects and Brio.

    TSM Engineer (Tivoli Storage) in Dallas, TX

    The IBM TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) Administrator is responsible for the daily administration of the IBM TSM backup infrastructure.     Education/Skills/Experience Required:

    Java / J2EE Developer (Contract) in Dallas, TX

  • Design and document custom software solutions which include database models, software architecture, process flow, and web navigation possibly all related to an Open Source CMS.
  • Develop custom software solutions using technologies such as: Java, J2EE, Hibernate, MS SQL Server, Struts, Tiles, XML, JSP, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, Flash and maintain all assets under source control (CVS).
  • Review end user documentation for accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain development, staging and production environments using designated tools and procedures to build and promote software through the development cycle and to deliver upgrades and enhancements and regular intervals.
  • Unit test all software components prior to release to QA and communicate with Quality Assurance (QA) during the development cycle.
  • Consult regularly with the Customer Technology Data Services and Technology Services teams to identify tools and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy of the technology services provided to our customers.
  • Bring ideas for new technologies, software tools etc. for use by teams across the company to make all of our products better.
  • Develop and implement effective, efficient and controlled software solutions.
  • Must be able to quickly assess and react to changing circumstances and new information.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with vendors, customers, peers, subordinates and management.
