Our Fortune 500 client headquartered in Dallas, Texas has a great contract to hire opportunity for a Software Quality Assurance Lead.
As the Software Quality Assurance Lead, you will ensure software meets agreed customers requirements prior to release and establishes the software quality strategy for the organization including guidelines for inspections, assessments, testing, defect reporting, and verification of defect resolution as well as process adherence, reviews and sign-offs as defined by our client's IS Department.
You will assist in the management of a team of professionals responsible for quality verification and validation of the organizations software development projects and programs.
Responsibilities:
Work in conjunction with the Software Quality Assurance Manager to:
Coordinate the quality effort for the entire software lifecycle.
Work with the product development team to design for testability, plan testing, and plan other quality assurance activities.
Define priorities for the quality teams and delegate responsibilities.
Create, track, and maintain quality plans and schedules.
Coordinate, manage and track the QA teams efforts, ensuring milestones are met within defined budgets and schedules.
Lead the design and implementation of new quality assurance methods and procedures
Provide technical advice and guidance to management and QA team on matters of Quality Assurance activities.
Identify incentives, rewards, repercussions, penalties, consequences that will be effective in improving processes and their use.
Review and approve test plans for unit testing, integration / interoperability testing and acceptance testing.
Document and report quality assurance findings to project/program managers., development team, follow-up on ongoing test activities.
Coordinate and lead reviews and inspections.
Train IT project team members for inspections
Track and analyze historical data to predict future performance.
Engage in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
Act as an advocate for quality in the organization.
Assist in the maintenance of the SQA intranet site and content
Experience Required:
Expertise in quality methodology including knowledge of process and methodology to build quality into software. (FAGAN knowledge a plus)
Expertise in the use and interpretation quality metrics.
Experience with inspection processes
Experience with function point counting.(IFPUG certification is a plus)
Experience with Oracle Applications functional development/implementation would be a plus
Experience with project management of complex projects/programs (PMP certification is a plus)
Experience in troubleshooting and monitoring testing operations, project management implementation and coordinating the work of a QA team.
Experience in developing, implementing and reporting quality assurance test plans, procedures and results/findings.
Experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.
Experience in a structured testing environment.
Hands-on experience with complex software systems, networking, and databases.

Basic Function:
Provides expert assistance in the development and implementation of the infrastructure operating systems software needed to support JCPenney departments and businesses in carrying out their Company responsibilities.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Works with project teams, as assigned, to assist and give technical counsel during the development and implementation phases of a project related to UNIX Systems.
2. Develops technical positions to assist in planning software and hardware requirements to ensure the Company's data processing needs are effectively and efficiently met for UNIX systems.
3. Performs special trouble-shooting assignments in infrastructure technology and equipment evaluation on UNIX Systems.
4. Monitors existing technology to ensure it is meeting the design objectives and the Company's Security and Control Program for UNIX Systems.
5. Provides advice and counsel in evaluating technology acquired from outside vendors to ensure it meets our Company standards.
6. Does research in all potential areas of interest in data processing, e.g., office automation, personal computers, artificial intelligence, etc.

2. Works with outside vendors in defining the Company's software and hardware needs.
3. Participates in outside organizations to ensure that we are using the most effective new hardware and software techniques available to maintain our competitive advantage.
4. Works closely with the internal and external auditors to ensure that we are adequately protecting the Company resources assigned to the department.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
An undergraduate degree is required (preferably a computer science degree); a graduate degree is preferred. Because of the dynamic nature of this activity, a continuing education in the latest data processing techniques is required. In lieu of formal education, progressively more responsible technical experience could also suffice; 8 years for II, and 5 years for I position.
