Robert Half Technology, the world's leader in technology staffing, is currently seeking a NOC Technician for a 6-9 Month Contract with a Law firm based in Downtown Dallas.
Description:
Monitors operations of Data Center and related systems and respond to alarms that arise. Responds to requests / tickets sent to IT Operations. Escalates significant systems issues / requests / tickets to the appropriate individual within IT Operations & Infrastructure or other I.T. group. Provides the monitoring function for the IT group to mitigate risk and the communication link between Operations & Infrastructure group and other I.T. and non I.T. groups.
Duties:
- Monitors day to day operations of the data centers and provides the needed assistance to all IT / Stakeholder groups.
- Monitor systems including
o Network Communications/bandwidth usage
o Server system performance
o Directory services (AD, DNS, LDAP, etc)
o Storage systems
o Telecommunications systems
o Messaging systems data flow
o Monitor initial security events - internal or perimeter systems (Denial of service, Hackers, logins to unauthorized systems, etc.)
- Responds to requests / tickets directed towards the IT Operations group and if necessary escalates to appropriate groups or individuals
- Generates tickets to address significant monitored events and if necessary escalates to appropriate groups or individuals
- Report to IT Operations Manager any monitoring trends that indicate a need to adjust a system’s monitoring parameters or modify its infrastructure
- Provides IT Operations & Infrastructure management & other IT groups with reports to assist in order to maintain determined SLA/quality standards and for proactive planning.
- Manages print queues, routine data loads/extracts, etc.
- Run routine reports.
- Communicates scheduled and unscheduled network / systems outages to appropriate groups
- Provide support to IT Operations Manager and Operations & Infrastructure group as needed
- Provide IT Operations Manager with periodic reports & briefings on systems availability using monitoring system tools.
- Required to participate in after hours “on call” function
- Other duties as assigned

Experience: Requirements:
- 1+ year(s) experience supporting Windows based Server and Storage architecture
- Good understanding of Network communications
- Good understanding of Network topologies, etc
- Good knowledge & understanding of client (PC's) interaction with back-end systems.
- Knowledge of Cisco internetwork devices
- Knowledge of SNMP network monitoring
