Radio Template Design Specialist (Job #8320) in Dallas, TX

Job Summary:



The LMR System Technologist - Radio Template Design Specialist is responsible for working with radio system end users and System Engineers to determine needs, gather and document necessary information, and create fleet maps, radio templates, and code plugs. This could include conventional, trunked, and data radios as well as dispatch consoles.



Based on project loadingm, this LMR System Technologist will also be responsible for scheduling and staffing, logistics, material coordination, installation, commissioining, integration, and troubleshooting of LMR radio networks, including all command and control equipment. The LMR System Technologist will also be responsible for updates and upgrades to the LMR networks/systems, as well as all operations and maintenance activities. Senior LMR Technologists will also lead technician teams on major projects, and will also be responsible for on-the-job training of lower level technicians.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

? Provide collection, analysis, and evaluation of radio and console programming information.

? Design of fleetmaps, radio templates, and codeplugs.

? Maintain current knowledge of radio products and communications, data, and dispatch systems for major equipment suppliers.

? Maintain current knowledge of interoperability and rebanding issues and requirements.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

? Lead technologist/technician teams and provide installation, commissioning, integration, and troubleshooting of LMR radio networks.

? Provide technical expertise to plan and execute upgrades to installed customer systems including Trunking, Conventional, Consoles, E911 and Data.

? Pre-configure customer hardware and software in vendor Upgrade Operations lab to facilitate easier upgrade process in the field.

? Provide technical support, testing and troubleshooting as needed during upgrade implementations (onsite and phone support).

? Work with vendor product and brand teams to identify improvements to existing and planned products and processes to make upgrades transparent to the customer and more cost effective to implement.

? Provide onsite operations and maintenance expertise (provide services, assist end customer, train end customer staff).

? Travel to customer locations as needed.











Qualifications







Education and/or Experience:



Associate's degree (AA) from a two-year college or technical school; with 5-6 years of telecom installation experience in a highly aggressive field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of five years of hands-on experience with multiple technology platforms in the LMR industry is a plus.



Qualifications:

. 3+ years experience programming and creating codeplugs for Motorola trunked radios with CPS/RSS software

. Experience with a wide variety of Motorola radios of varying vintages

. Able to handle multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy throughout

. Ability to interpret customer requirements and put them into a finished codeplug

. High level of experience with Microsoft Office 2003 or higher, to include Word, Excel, and Access, as well as Visio and Adobe Acrobat.

. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and oral

Other Qualifications:

. Demonstrated expertise with tools and test equipment required to install, commission, integrate, operate, and trouble-shoot LMR equipment and systems.

. Working knowledge of LAN/WAN equipment and concepts.

. Aggressive/Creative Problem Solving Skills; ability to get things done in a multi-organizational environment

. Knowledge of GTS (Clarify), COF, Microsoft Office Suite, Primus (Solution Builder), TDR, and SID tools/databases. Knowledge of SSC, CST/CSE, and CCSi Business Processes.

. Familiar with the current equipment/system offerings of suppliers to the industry, specifically Motorola, M/A Com, and EF Johnson (both network and mobile equipment).

. Demonstrated LMR product-specific expertise.

. Familiar with LMR network/system installation, commissioning, integration, monitoring, trouble-shooting, and O&M.

. Familiar with the industry's regulating bodies (such as FCC, FAA).

. High level of travel is required.

. US Citizenship may be required for specific projects.
