Basic Function:
Develop and support complex Transportation related applications, including gathering/analyzing business requirements, designing systems solutions to business problems, coding and testing the solutions. Provide database administration leadership for the entire team, as well as other IT teams within the company.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Develop and support Transportation applications. This requires 10+ years experience in COBOL programming.
2. Provide lead DBA role for the Retail and Transportation systems department.
3. Provide technical leadership in the most complex technical projects and develop short and long term solutions, ensuring project schedules are met as well as project budgets.
4. Provide leadership to ensure the most advantageous technical and/or business solutions are selected and implemented to best achieve the business goals.
5. Provide technical leadership to onsite and offshore contractors, as well as other JCP junior and senior team members.
6. Interface with the business community and IT management.
7. Good aptitude in understanding the business user community and their IT needs.
8. Excellent problem solving skills in order to perform research on complex systems problems and provide solutions for requested system enhancements.
9. Good oral and written communication skills required.
10. Assist in the support of Transportation applications and i2 (third party vendor) applications on Windows Server hardware and the Oracle RDBMS platform.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field desired.
2. 10-15 years experience in application systems planning and design and programming required.
3. Mainframe experience with COBOL and DB2 database required; minimum ten years.
4. Certified DB2 UDB V8.1 for Z/OS Database Administrator or equivalent experience in creating, maintaining and tuning DB2 databases on Z/OS.
5. Excellent problem solving, analytical, coding and testing skills.
6. Ability to work independently on multiple tasks concurrently or as part of a team.
7. Interest in enhancing skills and learning new technologies.
8. Knowledge and experience with Oracle Databases (PL/SQL) desirable.
9. Knowledge of Supply Chain/Transportation background a benefit.
