IT Network Engineer

JCPenney Information Technology has an immediate opening in the Plano, TX Corporate Headquarters for a IT Infrastructure Architect-Network Engineer in the Network Architecture department.


Responsibilities:

1. Will have direct involvement in all aspects of supporting the Corporate Data Network
a. Design
b. Configuration
c. Documentation
d. Implementation
e. Support
2. Work with client organization(s) to understand business requirements and design/deliver networking solutions that satisfy the business needs.
3. Troubleshoot network issues through all layers of the OSI model across multiple technologies.
4. Provide 'Level-2 and 3' network support in a multi-vendor environment across varying products and IEEE/IETF protocols including wireless LAN.
5. Participate in an ?on-call? rotation to satisfy '24 x 7' support requirements.
6. Participate in cross-functional / cross-organizational team projects.


Qualifications:

1. 2-3 years hands on experience as a Network Engineer/Analyst using TCP/IP protocols
2. Hands on knowledge of the TCP/IP network stack and OSI layers 1-7
3. Hands on configuration experience with routers and switches
4. Hands on knowledge of router and switch hardware platforms (Alcatel, Cisco)
5. Working knowledge of OSPF
6. Proven troubleshooting skills in a multi-vendor environment
7. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including MS VISIO
8. Strong oral and written communication skills
