Windows / Linux Administration in Dallas, TX

As a key member of the Information Technology team, the Systems Administrator will perform new system and network implementations, while providing technical support for these new and existing systems/networks. This fast-paced position requires direct contact with internal and external business customers along with multiple external IT vendors. This IT team is highly-flexible with an emphasis on delivering an industry-best class of service.

On a day-to-day basis, this position will oversee the Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Veritas/Symantec Tape Backup, Dell/EMC SAN ( opportunity to learn SAN ), VMWare ESX Server, RedHat Linux, and Citrix servers.

  • One of the key position requirements will be to handle both isolated tasks (i.e. network or systems problems) and longer-term projects simultaneously. The first major project of this position will be to oversee and implement the Disaster Recovery plan
  • Since there will be direct contact with their most important asset, internal employees and customers, you must be personable, approachable and willing to help others
  • Research, evaluate, install, configure and troubleshoot all hardware, software and peripherals necessary to meet integrated systems objectives.
  • Rotating on-call schedule. Usually one week per month you will be on-call for after-hours troubleshooting.
  • Small amount of travel will be required as needed. Typically not more than 3-5 days per month, and usually 1-2 nights per trip

    Experience: Required:
  • Local to north Dallas
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Bachelors degree
  • 4+ years of installing, setting up from scratch and configuring Windows 2000, 2003 Servers
  • 2+ years Active Directory, including installing AD servers, configuring DNS and replication
  • 2+ years of installing, troubleshooting and formatting Redhat Linux servers ( Linux Systems Administration )
  • 1+ years of back up, recovery and archiving technology
  • Ability to work well with internal customers

    Preferred:
  • 1+ year of SAN experience
  • Worked with Symantic NetBackup or Veritas Backup Exec
  • Redhat Linux certification
  • MCSE ( Windows 2003 )
  • Citrix Experience
