Robert Half Technology, the world's leader in technology staffing, is currently seeking a COBOL Production Support Specialist for a long term contract with option to hire for a medical/insurance client in the North Dallas area
This is a legacy application programmer position which involves a combination of coding and production support activities.
Technical skill requirements:
- Very strong technical knowledge required
- Significant experience with TSO/ISPF, SDSF, VSAM
- Experience with COBOL (preferably COBOL390)
- Significant working knowledge of JCL, PROCs , overrides and batch processing. REQUIRED
- Experience with Endeavor change management is a REQUIREMENT. Other change management tools will not be considered
Experience with IBM utilities such as IDCAMS and IEBGENER desired
- Experience with debugging tools (FileAid, Max/Data Util)
- Experience reading program abend dumps (prefer DUMPMASTER).
- Experience with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook, Project, Internet Explorer)
- Experience with ZEKE/ZEBB or significant knowledge of other job scheduling/restart packages such as CA7 or CA11
- On-call experience required, some availability nights and weekends as required
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Previous data conversion experience a plus
- experience with financial applications and/or healthcare industry experience highly desired

Experience: In order to qualify for this position the candidate must have CURRENT experience in COBOL, JCL, Endeavor, ZEKE/ZEBB, CA7,CA11, and REX. Additionally, in order to be considered candidate must complete in-house evaluations on COBOL and JCL; Must have not been submitted to this client previously; Must successfully complete a background check and drug screen.
