ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
This position provides the leadership and direction to the Mainframe Operations staff, aligning them with the departmental goals and objectives necessary to deliver best in class service.
Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance for support and execution of Mainframe Operations.
Establish and maintain working relationships with all appropriate technology and development management levels.
Manage the operations for a 24/7 Data Center and staff engaged in system monitoring and database processing tasks to ensure all systems are operating at full capacity and top performance.
Must possess a sense of urgency when dealing with Review system usage/performance and initiate testing, implementation, and installation of new/improved systems, upgrades, and network lines.
Oversee daily/weekly meetings and interact regularly with senior management, clients and incumbents to constantly improve Data Center operations.
Review current staffing needs as well as project future requirements and implement the necessary advertising, interviewing and hiring activities to fill Responsible for the departmental budget. Ensure proper record keeping, documentation, and dispersal activities adhere to company policies.
Monitor employee relations issues to include personnel evaluations, merit increases, promotions, transfers, counseling, and terminations as well as to ensure that all other employee personnel actions are properly documented and processed in a timely manner.
Work with personnel to identify areas of possible automation and/or improvement to provide better service and enhance problem resolution.
Manage client service levels and escalate to appropriate management if impending issues threaten to jeopardize our ability to meet them.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Knowledgeable of the latest Mainframe technologies, environments, standards and trends within the industry.
Develop and implement department policies /procedures, generate requested/required reports for customers as well as management, and train department personnel.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Bachelor's degree/technical certification in Computer Science or related field and 10+ years of experience working in a Large Mainframe Operations 24x7x365 environment with multiple domestic and international shifts, of which 5+ years in management role.

Strong technical, supervisory, and interpersonal skills are necessary to accomplish both the technical goals and staff development training goals.
Communicate effectively with internal and external personnel, both verbally and in writing.
Exhibit strong organizational, team building, and Operate a computer with strong proficiency in Mainframe operation systems and services.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require working weekends and nights.
May require standing for long periods of time.
May require 12 hour shifts.
May require extensive walking.
On-site accountability for all critical issues.
