Infrastructure Management Principle – Mainframe Performance Analyst

Description:
A senior-level technical expert, the Infrastructure Management Principle – Mainframe Performance Analyst is a fully qualified individual contributor who applies an in-depth knowledge of Performance Management concepts, practices and procedures. As a technical expert, incumbents are competent to work on assignments of technical complexity displaying a mastery of specialized techniques, practices and theories. The incumbent routinely works under demanding deadlines/handles heavy workloads, operating with only limited supervision; errors at this level can cause significant delay, expense and/or disruption. Provides functional and technical expertise to formulate performance tuning recommendations; develops and/or modifies procedures to solve problems. Prepares detailed documentation, including resource utilization analyses, charts, and reports, supports multiple mainframe software and hardware platforms. Assignments are in a technical / business functional area.

REPESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

Monitors and analyzes the utilization and performance of complex mainframe computer systems, prepares performance reports to ensure that agreed user requirements/program objectives are met.

Develops detailed documentation including graphs, charts and reports, to reflect resource utilization performance requirements and SLAs for ACS account team and client review.

Has current working knowledge of Workload Manager policy development and management. Recommends and implements changes to support ongoing performance requirements.

Has an in-depth knowledge of CICS and DB2 tuning and experience with zOS1.7 or above and z10 hardware.

Have experience and proficiency using, customizing and scripting IBM Tivoli Omegamon, Portal DE. Suggests new process enhancements and automations.

Analyzes new and existing vendor hardware and software in support of current and future client and ACS performance requirements.

Consults with account team and clients to identify current operational and resource utilization issues and to clarify service objectives.

Effective team player who may provide guidance to and assist in the training of less experienced staff; provides hardware/software training as required.

Is able to perform competently under pressure and handle interruptions and change without losing productivity

Have good oral communication skills to effectively convey and explain technical data with diverse people.

Maintains expert level industry/technical knowledge base and facilitates/maintains industry relationships.


Education and Typical Years of Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible related technical experience, including at least 5 years mainframe computer/systems performance experience in a large-scale mainframe computer/systems environment.

Experience and proficiency using SMF / RMF data, SAS, MXG, Athene or other such performance and capacity management software (past use of Athene a plus), personal computer and associated work station/computer-assisted tools, etc.

Specific Requirements: Experience and proficiency using, customizing and scripting IBM Tivoli Omegamon, Portal DE is required.

Must be fluent in both spoken and written English with minimal accent.
