Genesis10 is in need of a Lead Software Engineer for a major client in Dallas, Texas. As the Software Engineer, you must be focused on providing client service, willing to travel 30% of the time and willing to be in a team on-call rotation for 24 X 7 support when required.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, implement and manage user acceptance and deployment of plant applications.
- Work with leadership to identify opportunities to improve and enhance systems in support of strategic business objectives.
- Facilitate requirements gathering efforts and clearly document system requirements.
- Anticipate future consequences and trends accurately; have broad knowledge and perspective; can link organizational strategy to corporate and client strategies; act as a thought leader with clients in developing business strategies; think out-of-the box; challenge the status quo by asking what if.
- Facilitate the evaluation of available alternatives and the decision making process. May include software selection efforts, architectural design reviews, etc.
- Lead the development of prototypes/proofs of concept to validate key business requirements.
- Coordinate the documentation of functional and technical design specifications.
- Sets clear objectives and measures. Communicates objectives and progress toward objectives.
- Development of new and enhanced system functionality including custom code and packaged application configuration.
- Documentation and execution of comprehensive unit, integration, and system test scripts. Facilitate capturing issues identified in testing and ensure their resolution prior to implementation.
- Develop and execute implementation plans including installation of new hardware and software, user training, and post-implementation system monitoring.
- Ensure the successful transition from development to operations including operations procedures and tools such as process control points, reports, and automated monitoring.
- Effectively communicates with team members, clients and sponsors. Able to establish credibility by appealing to reason and using research, data, facts and figures; able to build support for ideas; win concessions or resolve problems without damaging relationships
- Collaborate with team members and operational groups to identify and prioritize/reprioritize work when necessary.
- Develop strong working relationships with individuals at all levels of company, operations, and IT applications and infrastructure teams.
- Manage relationship with hardware and software vendors as well as professional service providers.
- Willingness to work hours as necessary, especially during critical issue resolution and milestone time periods.
Experience: Required Experience/Skills:
- Minimum of five years experience in software development, technical support, or project management and knowledge of common methodologies.
- Experience forming and leading a team from concept through implementation.
- Relevant technical experience with at least some of the following technologies: OSI PI (UDS & Process Book, data link client tools), SmartSignal, OSI PI APIs, Plant Control Systems / Technologies, Database development and operations experience; SQL & PI, Enterprise Application Integration; WEB, Java script, Dynamic HTML, Applications development, OSI PI data integration.
- Knowledge of Software Configuration Management discipline and systems change management processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Creation and delivery of presentations on business and technical topics.
- Ability to manage multiple efforts simultaneously.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills required.
- Strong written, verbal communications skills.
- Detail oriented, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment
- Ability to productively use Reliant's toolset - MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Project, Visio, etc.
Experience in the Following areas is a plus!
- Experience installing, configuring, and tuning OSIsoft data historian software product.
- Solid understanding of the OSIsoft PI system architecture and hardware selection.
- Experience with PI Enterprise Server, Process Book, DataLink, PI Tag Configurator, SMT 3, PI-ICU, and PI Interfaces.
- Experience with Real Time Control Systems in Oil & Gas or Utilities Industry.
- Experience with Advanced Computing Engine (PI-ACE), Analysis Framework, PI-SDK, RtPortal, RtWebParts, RtReports.
- Software development experience VB, VB .NET, ASP.NET and other web technologies using disciplined coding and testing regiments.
- Experience installing and configuring Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server (MOSS) and Windows Sharepoint Services.
- Within power generation and supply, power generation, plant operations, commercial operations, risk management, financial management, and wholesale energy systems.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS or Engineering preferred.
- Advanced technical degree or MBA.
- Experience with power generation or commercial business desired.
