The Help Desk Specialist position is the initial contact point for all end-users computer and technology support. The primary role of this position is to provide day-to-day telephone support to end-users to resolve a wide variety of technology problems and handle incidents regarding their PC/Mac hardware and software applications, PC/Mac operating systems as well as setting up, installing and configuring PC/Mac workstations and related peripheral equipment as well as any other technology related issues.

The Help Desk Specialist will troubleshoot and assist with support requests primarily by telephone using remote control tools and through conversations with the user. Some desk-side support is also required for local users. Updating of Help Desk Calls information into the Help Desk Ticket System and documentation of all user requests and problem resolutions is a key part of the job. In this role the Help Desk Specialist will also assist in installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading Windows XP PCs, Mac OS X (9.x and 10.1 through 10.5) workstations, and peripherals as well as providing network and server support as time allows.

Troubleshooting PC/Mac hardware, Notebook, PDA, Printer/Print Server, Microsoft Windows XP, Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, Internet browsers, Standard Microsoft software, Standard MAC software, and other in-house application problems is also required. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with both Macintosh OS X desktop and Windows XP software.

Basic knowledge of Macintosh OS X Server, Windows Server 2003 and Linux or Unix is a plus. This role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer.
