May perform one or more of the following:
The Backup/Recovery Operations Engineer will work with the midrange systems (Wintel & UNIX) team as well as the Enterprise Storage team to develop ensure system-wide recoverability.
Responsibilities include:
Policy definition, and updates
Monitoring of daily backup jobs, troubleshoot and resolve issues & failures
Monitoring of electronic vaulting and work with network engineering to resolve any network congestion or security issues
Oversee all recovery attempts and assist systems engineers with issues
Setting up and configuring of Symantec NetBackup & BackupExec clients
Proactively trend, monitor and improve backup/restore speed, consistency, scalability and availability
Handle escalation with software & hardware vendors to resolve major issues
Periodic Disaster Recovery testing
Create and maintain documentation of environments
Requirements:
At least 5-7 years of experience with enterprise/global implementation, installation, patching and configuration of Veritas NetBackup Master/Media Servers
Experience with distributed Master/Media servers
Experience with VTL, Data DeDuplication and tape encryption
Understanding of Backup, Restore, Archive, Policy Creation & Modification
At least 3 years experience with Solaris/AIX/Linux or Windows Operating Systems
At least 3 years working with NAS / SAN environments
