Senior IT Support Engineer in Dallas, TX

Our Richardson, TX client is seeking a Senior IT Support Engineer.Description: Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer ("CFO"), this position is responsible for managing and supporting the communications systems and technology necessary for the conduct of the Company's business. These systems and technology may include, but are not necessarily limited to, computers and network servers, telephone systems and voice mail, electronic mail, facsimile, Internet services and corporate intranet, wireless networking and all related computer software. Also oversees and performs certain administrative and support functions including, but not limited to, facilities management and maintenance, and purchasing of computer and network supplies and support services. Work is performed with little direct supervision and with latitude to exercise independent judgment within the framework of existing company and department policies and procedures. Responsibilities: . Set-up, configure and maintain internal and/or external computer, data, telephony and other communications networks, including all hardware, software, security and network configurations. Recommend upgrades, patches and new applications and equipment. . Support and manage the organization's inventory of computer and information technology equipment and services, including deployment, maintenance, support and upgrade of servers, desktop PCs, hardware, software, operating systems and distributed printers. . Perform basic training/orientation to new users on their computers, peripheral equipment, standard software and using the communications networks. Provide technical support and guidance to users. Troubleshoot computer and network performance issues. May be called upon to provide support and troubleshooting assistance outside of normal business hours. . Recommend, plan and implement policies and procedures to support the organization's computer, data, telephony and other communications networks and related services. Create and maintain a disaster recovery plan. . Purchase computer and communications system equipment, supplies and services in accordance with established policies and practices in support of office and facilities management and maintenance requirements. . Receive deliveries of goods, supplies and services to ensure that payment is made only for goods and services received in good order and in accordance with specifications of order. . Take initiative in recommending changes in work methods, policies, and procedures to improve department effectiveness and improve overall operating efficiencies. Perceive when non-routine activities are required and offer assistance without necessity to be asked. . Participate in department and company employment recruiting as necessary and appropriate in accordance with established policies and practices. Train, supervise and evaluate performance of assigned staff; oversee staff workload to optimize efficiency of work and meet operational requirements and deadlines. Requirements: Skills & Qualifications: . Comprehensive knowledge of desktop computer hardware and platforms, network server equipment and environments, and peripheral equipment such as desktop and networked printers, scanners, projectors and other equipment. . Specific experience with desktop and network software environments and applications including Microsoft Server, Microsoft Exchange, Windows XP and Vista, and Microsoft Office Suite. . Considerable knowledge of modern information technology administration and management practices, policies and procedures. Recommend and implement approved information technology administration and management practices, policies and procedures. . Strong customer support background and experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal with end-users. . Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies and deliver them to the end-users. Ability to explain problems and solutions clearly, in non-technical terms. . Exercise individual initiative and discretion in confidential matters regarding desktop PC and network security. . Read, analyze, and interpret complex business and technical documents such as professional journals, technical manuals, procedures and policies. . Prepare analyses, reports, proposals, business correspondence, procedural manuals and other business documents of professional appearance in a clear, concise and complete fashion. . Define and analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, project consequences of proposed actions, identify alternative solutions, draw valid conclusions, make appropriate recommendations, and implement approved recommendations in support of business initiatives and objectives. . Bachelor's degree in related area and at least five years of increasingly responsible experience in the duties and responsibilities described herein in a professional office environment with similar sized or larger private enterprises. . Microsoft Certification in one or more of the following disciplines; IT Professional (MCITP), Technology Specialist (MCTS), Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), System Administrator (MCSA), and/or Systems Engineer (MCSE).
