A technology specialist, the Information Security Analyst is a fully qualified individual contributor who applies highly-developed knowledge of information security services/analysis concepts, practices and procedures.
Incumbents are competent to work on complex assignments and perform a comprehensive range of information security services operations activities. The incumbent routinely works as a part of a team and often handles heavy workloads, operating under supervision.
The Information Security Analyst works well as a part of a team to collaborate and find consensus regarding the proper course of action. Provides functional and technical expertise to manage information security services scope and objectives as previously defined by management. Assignments are in technical and business functional areas.
Primary Responsibilities & Objectives:
· Define alerts and reports based on events and categories to satisfy customer use cases.
· Work with others in the Engineering team to: Document device support; and reproduce or diagnose field-reported issues related to device support for troubleshooting
· Theoretical and operational knowledge of devices and technologies such as firewalls, routers, intrusion detection systems, as well as fundamental understanding of Internet protocols such as IP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, and others
· Work non-standard hours, as required by management
· Adhere to ACS policy and procedure in the execution of duties
· Performs continuous monitoring of security events reported into the Security Information Management (SIM) console.
· Escalates potential security incidents as defined by escalation process
· Performs open-source research for use in ACS CSIRT informational products.
· Performs security administration duties, as assigned
· Monitors and is responsible for activities that occur throughout assigned shift
· Performs shift turnover meeting in accordance with documented shift turnover procedures
· BS degree or equivalent experience and/or knowledge and/or certification credentials
1 Years of Information Technology experience or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 months of Information Security experience or equivalent experience
Operational experience in network security and/or in network and system administration, including Windows and UNIX platforms and network services
Experience reviewing/analyzing data and logs
Ability to work independently or as part of a team and to manage multiple simultaneous tasks
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
