Job Purpose:
Serve as Solutions Engineer / Architect and will be responsible for supporting projects, developing and recommending scalable solutions for company, and ensuring that initiatives support the corporate vision. Responsible for overall design and functionality of the call platform, user interfaces, and back office systems. Areas include cost modeling, vendor management, product selection, scaling and design across multiple data centers. Components include Media Servers, SIP Application Servers, Oracle Database, SQL Databases, CRM, ERP, Web Applications and extensive custom software for specialized needs in the Corrections and Managed Services industry.
Principal Accountabilities or Duties:
Develop the target architecture, with supporting business cases and road maps
Responsible for the engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance and upgrade of the companys platform deployment, back office applications and hardware
Engineer platform software, hardware setup & testing, remote monitoring, scripting, and integration with other enterprise applications
Support technical projects to reduce cost, improve service or provide innovated business solutions consistent with the business strategies
Accountable for using project lifecycle methodology including the creation of project plans, charters, budgetary estimates, and network documentation
Participate and/or lead project teams as a technical resource to deliver solutions that follow best-practice standards
Provide Tier 4 engineering and Tier 3 support during critical incidents as necessary
Participate in strategic planning process and assist with managing strategic vendor relations
Participate and/or lead team initiatives with other engineers for new technology introductions / deployments, and establishing best-practice recommendations
Coach and mentor other delivery, quality assurance, and support personnel
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
10+ years experience in IT engineering
5 + years Microsoft SQL Server
5 + years of Database Design experience
5 + years Cisco routers and switches, LAN/WAN Network design and implementation experience
Experience with multi-site configurations in systems engineering
Experience applying technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems
Experience in systems integration, verification and validation
Experience with requirements development and management
Experience on teams with multiple engineering disciplines represented
Tier 4 Problem Resolution on Networks, Applications and systems.
Extensive network protocol knowledge
PREFERRED
Experience with voice infrastructures design and support
Experience with embedded systems design including DSP and Microcontrollers
Experience with VoIP application and network design, SIP/RTP, Media Servers, Gateways, QoS, Bandwidth Calculations, Proxies and SBCs
J2SE, J2EE, JMS, JSP, Struts and related technologies
Experience with SCM using VSS, 6 yrs CVS, 3 yrs Subversion
Experience with call platform application development
Experience in the Telecom industry
Experience with Intellectual Property (IP) including recognizing/developing new IP, prosecution of patents and related documentation in engineering notebooks
Experience with Microsoft Project Server
