ACS Midrange Hardware Job Description

The applicant shall possess proven knowledge and experience in multiple brands of midrange server hardware. The applicant’s primary high level responsibilities will be to work with project teams to plan for and execute the installation of new and existing UNIX and NT server projects into the Dallas Data Center. There will be client assignments and internal ACS business needs that will routinely require hardware to be added to or removed from existing server environments. The applicant will be required to posses a broad knowledge of old and new technology to be successful.

Additional requirements:

Be able to work off shift which will include a shift premium.
Have a solid understanding of general data center operations and practices.
Understand the basic process of rack mounted server installation and wiring.
Be prompt, very organized, detail oriented, and consistent in daily work practices.
Have experience in the installation of SAN hardware and SAN fiber cabling.
Be able to calculate, plan, and finalize server hardware requirements for installation.
Be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds dead lift.
Be able to work, on occasion, at a sustained level of physical activity.
Have experience in handling various UNIX and NT server installs and changes.
Work effectively with little management oversight and sustain a high level of success.
Acclimate to all internal ACS process and management reporting tools.

This position requires the unique qualities of a self-motivated individual that can think multi-dimensionally, plan ahead, and schedule their daily activities in a very productive manor. The applicant will be responsible to manage a high level of minute details for various clients on a daily basis and will be expected to maintain an above average success rate in all assigned projects. This position will be second shift 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM and it works out that it works about 15 days a month and it gets a 10% shift differential for the after hours work.
