Genesis10 is seeking 2 Software Engineers for a major client in Dallas, Texas on a 6 month contract basis. The Software Engineers will provide GE MapFrame application development and configuration services to clients and internal development teams.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver solutions to clients.
- Demonstrate and promote excellence in all aspects of development including design, coding standards, testing and documentation.
- Participate with project technical leads and project management efforts on projects and provide technical support to the project manager.
- Demonstrate strong technical writing and communication skills through participation in statement of work and functional requirement customer write-ups, customer and project management status calls, submission of technical documentation for development work and draft and review of end user documentation.
- Participate in the design and development of customer projects using MapFrame application configurations, GIS/CIS/DMS extractions tools and methodologies, and appropriate programming languages.
- Review user requirements and propose system and application design.
- Participate in technical reviews of papers and presentations developed by other employees.
- Participate in development of training materials and delivery of training as appropriate.
- Review technical designs and other project deliverables.
- Participate in the development of testing and training materials and support and/or perform testing, training and application deployment tasks for client.
Experience: Required Experience/Skills:
- 4 year college degree in Geography / Cartography, Mathmetics, Computer Science, Engineering or other field.
- Minimum three years of relevant work experience, including developing applications using Microsoft Visual C++/MFC.
- Ability to travel.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to discuss complex technology in a clear and concise manner with a variety of audiences.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Experience in one or more of the following: GIS/spatial data environments: ESRI, GE Smallworld, Intergraph, and/or Autodesk, field crew automation for electric, gas, telecommunications, or cable operations knowledge of Utility industry work management applications from MDSI (Ventyx), Viryanet, LogicaCMG, CGI, Indus, @Road.
