Senior Product Engineer - Cloud in Dallas, TX

Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated is looking for a Senior Product Engineer - Cloud to fill an opening at a customer site in Boston, MA. This position can be permanent or contract and could be done in Auston, Dallas, San Antonio, Santa Claire, St. Louis or Boston.

Our client works exclusively on high-growth technology initiatives within the Client global business. Projects, like the newly launching Cloud Storage effort, combine the agility and singular focus found in a technology start-up with the stability and funding from an established IT service provider.

The Senior Product Engineering role is a key one within the Cloud Storage Group. This person will be responsible for the engineering and design of their assigned core service elements while aligning with the overall objectives of the go-to-market plan. The individual will work as part of an agile team of storage and network engineers to develop a truly differentiated Cloud Storage offer in the marketplace, leveraging Client? unique assets in the areas of cloud computing, professional services, top-tier datacenters, and global network

This senior technologist will work closely with the software, architecture, marketing and management teams to ensure that the company produces a service that can generate differentiated value and scalable revenue streams for years to come.

Position Objectives and Essential Duties:

Work with the Cloud Storage management team to ensure interlock with the project?s strategic vision, integration strategy and its long-term growth plan.
Evaluate vendor alternatives and set technical strategy for the underpinning elements of the cloud storage service.
Take responsibility for the customer value proposition and the technical differentiation plan that will enable a growing, viable business line for years to come. Take ownership for all assigned technical elements of the Cloud Storage service to possibly include core object store, edge policy managers, and network integration.
Coordinate with software development leaders in the Cloud Storage Group to develop a highly-extensible service platform that can be adopted and integrated in a wide range of scenarios through portal interfaces and web services.
Implement the highly scalable Cloud Middleware platform that interfaces with many subsystems with internal repositories.
Innovate the edge management service which drives efficient data transfer into cloud
Implement the private network which enables QoS-optimized, private access to the cloud by enterprise customers.
Translate functional and commercial requirements into technical and API specifications
Create a development environment for efficient testing and integration.

Strong experience in the design and implementation of multi-petabyte data stores
Strong experience in developing test plans for highly-virtualized, dispersed, web services.
Strong experience addressing a range of file-based enterprise data challenges, including archival, media, informatics, ingestion, encoding, and discovery.
3+ years complex enterprise storage systems experience
Detailed knowledge of WAN optimization and data replication techniques
Clustered NAS/file system or object store design and development
CIFS, NFS, ZFS expertise
Strong knowledge of UDP/TCP protocols such as SSH, FTP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, SMTP and others
Experience with infrastructure monitoring and performance measurement, including SNMP and related protocols
Strong analytical, diagnostic, problem solving and communication skills.
Must be a team player, flexible, self-motivated and analytical with excellent oral and written communications skills.

Desired Skills:
Experience leading the creation of multi-tenant, storage-as-a-service offerings
Expertise with commercial storage technologies including HP, EMC, HDS, and 3Par
Experience with enterprise storage replication technologies such as Snap Copy, and synchronous and asynchronous remote replication
Demonstrable familiarity with enterprise-grade server operating systems such as Windows 2003 Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Solaris
Knowledge of agile and testing-driven Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies

Education or Equivalent Experience:
BS in Computer Science or Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience.
