The ideal candidate should have at least 8 years of enterprise database administration experience, with 5 years experience with Microsoft SQL Server. Must have experience in administering large-scale (200 GB to multi-terabyte) database architectures. A Bachelors Degree is Computer Science is required; a Masters degree is preferred. The candidate should be a self-starter with strong leadership, professionalism and responsible qualities. The candidate should have the ability to work well with aggressive deadlines and minimal supervision. Very strong writing skills are required. The position includes a good amount of travel. Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork with Fortune 1000 clients performing scalability, high availability, migration and consolidation consulting on the Microsoft SQL Server platform as a Senior Database Consultant. Design and implement robust database administration solutions including resource management, security, backup and recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, data management and capacity planning, planning, and implementing failover between database instances. Design and implement scripts for instance monitoring, maintenance, backup, cloning, etc. utilizing T-SQL, SSIS, Reporting Services and Analysis Services.Design, write and deliver class content and presentations for workshops, seminars, web casts and conferences.Serve as a recognized expert in the SQL Server community by contributing to newsgroups, blogs, trade magazines and community web sites.Knowledge and SkillsCandidate must be an experienced DBA who has worked on SQL Server 2000 (preferably SQL Server 2005 as well). Must understand the SQL Server architecture at a 300-400 level. Strong experience with performance optimization and tuning with database applications is a MUST. Hands-on experience in Oracle or other RDBMS preferred. ASP, VBScript and XML knowledge a plusMust have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Mature, confident team player motivated by a fast paced environment. Must be creative and detail oriented. MCDBA track certifications are a plus. Must be able to communicate technical scenarios at both a high-level and detail level, as is required by the audience.Must have an excellent command of SQL Server and Windows monitoring tools, both Microsoft supplied (Profiler, Performance Monitor, MOM) and third-party (BMC, DBArtisan, Quest).
