Robert Half Technology, the world's leader in technology staffing, is currently seeking a contract to hire Mid to Senior Level Java developer for a high profile educational company based in Dallas, TX. This is an exciting opportunity within a technology department that is experiencing growth and change. This individual will be working on designing application integration solutions maximizing the flexibility and reusability of an SOA approach to integration. On a day to day basis the candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and documenting high-quality Java applications; creating and maintaining system and code documentation (javadocs, wiki and formal design papers); participating in support and maintenance processes; Contribute to process improvement discussions; work with Project Managers to define technical work plans and provide work estimates. The ideal candidate must have the ability to quickly grasp business requirements and prepare application designs using standard design patterns and best practices; be proficient in troubleshooting and detail-oriented problem diagnosis; be proficient with Object-Oriented Analysis; work in a highly collaborative environment with a team of other software developers, business analysts and QA analysts; be a team player and strong, creative problem solver; possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage time and priorities effectively.

Experience: In order to qualify for this positions, the candidate must have 4+ years of development experience with J2EE application servers like JBoss/Tomcat/WebLogic/ WebSphere; strong web development knowledge and experience; must be able to demonstrate an understanding of multi-tiered web-based application development; must be able to demonstrate strong and creative Java development skills; SQL experience and knowledge of Oracle or other databases. Candidates who have experience with CMS and/or Portal and O/R Mapping frameworks such as Hibernate and JDO are preferred.
