Job: Director - Data Warehouse/Business IntelliQence Group
The Director of the Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence (BI) Group has overall responsibility
and accountability for the design, development, release, and maintenance of data warehouse and
data mart systems, and related applications or services (e.g., reporting) for all company business
functions. This individual works closely with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders to
identify and maximize opportunities for using data warehouse systems to improve business
processes, promote the strategic use of information technology, and enable the workforce to use
technologies. The incumbent provides the corporate leadership, vision, and direction for data
warehouse/data mart systems, which are also referred to as business intelligence systems,
ensuring support of the company's business objectives and requirements. A key responsibility is
ensuring organizational balance and system coherency between desktop/client and data
warehouse back-end processing activities.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with senior management and peers to translate corporate/functional business
and information objectives into data warehouse strategic/tactical business plan and
systems development
Develop strategy and coordinate across business and technical teams to ensure all data
warehouse/BI-related projects meet strategic objectives
Ensure the development of corporate standards for data warehousing to ensure
compatibility and integration of multi-vendor platforms throughout the company
Ensure cost-effective design, development, engineering, integration, implementation,
testing, and maintenance of the data warehouse in support of business and information
objectives and requirements
Provide overall data warehouse/BI technical and financial direction, and develop controls,
budgets, and measurements to monitor progress
Manage growth and direction of data warehousing/BI:
survey/evaluate end-user (customer) requirements
monitor user demand and incremental expansion of project scope
control/monitor addition of line-of-business subject warehouses to the overall
data warehouse
estimate DASD requirements and costs
estimate total data warehouse/BI project costs, including ongoing maintenance
and support requirements
Maintain organizational balance and system coherency between front-end desktop/client
environment and data warehouse back-end processing functions
Analyze project needs and determine resources (e.g., staffing, costs) needed to meet
objectives
Negotiate and approve data warehouse/BI-related contracts
Approve subcontracting and vendor evaluation studies and technical source selection
Stay current in new technologies and platforms I
Staff and develop data warehouse/BI organization I
Create an environment that enables the Data Warehouse/Bf Project-Team Managers to
develop capacity for planning, assessment, implementation, and employee development
in their work teams i
Create and sustain business literacy and understanding of business prbcess in the IT
organization I Maintain clarity about values, visions, meaning, and purpose
Facilitate communication between all key IT groups and customer community
Establish and maintain a high level of client trust and confidence in the! team's knowledge

Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or Engineering or equivalent work
experience is required; a Master's degree is highly desirable
10-15 years of experience in strategic planning, development, implementation, and
maintenance of large-scale integrated online relational database systems across multiple
hardware and software platforms
At least seven years of experience in project management of major development
projects, particularly as a business lead on systems development
