Description:
Analyze, design, write program code, test, document, and implement functionally appropriate, technically sound, and well-integrated application systems in accordance with customer requirements and organizational methodologies.

1 Respond to production program problems. Manage resolution of problem and escalate as required. Performs predictive, proactive root cause analysis.
2 Analyze and resolve problems of medium complexity.
3 Research and recommend alternative actions for problem resolution with minimal direction. Analyze trend to proactively prevent problems.
4 Analyze, design programs viable solution for medium complexity business problems according to user specifications and develops detailed program specifications.
5 Test and implement systems and enhancements using techniques that meet generally accepted coding standards. Assists less senior engineers when performing system and acceptance testing.
6 Ensure that programs are functionally appropriate and technically sound. Understand interdependencies and acts to avoid problems.
7 identify process or system enhancements for business customers. Develops accurate and reliable cost analysis estimates.

Key Relationships:
1 Interact with business clients to define, analyze, and deliver customer requirements.
2 Serve as communication liaison between the business customer and the technology development and support group.

Core Competencies:
Strong partnering, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability, within a specific technology area, to independently complete root-cause analysis, design solutions, write code, perform testing, provide documentation, and implement medium size development projects. Ability to review the technical work less experienced engineers, analyze and resolve problems of medium complexity. General project methodology skills. Strong customer service/team orientation.

Required Skills:
*College degree in Computer Science, Managed Information Systems or equivalent. In Lieu of formal education, 7-8 years of progressively more responsible technical experience could also suffice.
*3-4 years of experience on mainframe DB2, DB2 utilities, COBOL, SQL, MVS JCL, and MVS batch processing.
*Strong SQL coding skills and experience with coding complex SQL.
*At least 7-8 years of experience in Information Technology, analyzing, planning and design, developing, implementing and maintaining application systems.
*2-3 years of in depth experience building, supporting and maintaining large database tables. Experience in performance tuning and optimization of queries and processing of tables.
*Familiarly with Visual Basic.
* Requires some on call after hours support, including nights and weekends.
