Information Architect in Dallas, TX

Our client has a direct hire opening for an Information Architect. Candidates must have experience as an IA working on e-commerce websites. General SummaryThe Information Architect plays a key role in the lifecycle of every online project. The Information Architect produces high-level documents articulating how a proposed architecture addresses strategic, business, user, and functional requirements. Fully involved from inception, the Information Architect works alongside business analysts, user experience leads, product managers, technical architects, and visual designers to identify requirements, study users, and develop the navigation, organization, interaction design, and business/user process engineering (including site maps, navigation models, process flows, and wireframes) for consumer-facing e-commerce web sites, internal tools, and the business processes that underlie them.Principal Duties and Responsibilities (* Essential Functions)Create web site wireframes, use cases, and data models by working with internal clients, product managers, analysts and developers to enhance the feature set and performance of our high-volume e-commerce websites.Develop thorough, realistic IA plans that support business needs and objectives.Work with internal constituents to understand business requirements and goals and help capture the strategy, content, and features for layout of the web sites or business logic flow.Define web site architecture, navigation and site maps that serve as a blueprint of the site upon which all other aspects are built.Create and manage detailed wireframes, site maps, schematics, process maps, feature lists, visual specification, data flows and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience.Partner with analysts and developers to establish high-level time and effort estimates based on client requirements during project kickoffs, refining the estimate at each iteration.Work with Quality Assurance to ensure that delivered features match IA-specified system functionality.Participate in brainstorming sessions on functional requirements, content organization, process flow, UI specifications, and technical integrationLead or participate in immersive user research, concept testing, and usability testing.ExperienceMinimum 5 years IA/UE experience, at least 3 of which must be as part of teams developing complex, high volume, e-commerce websites.Bachelors in Human Computer Interaction, Information Sciences, or related area.Professional experience with agile development methodologiesPortfolio of large UE/UI projects including IA plans, site maps, wireframes, flows, etc.Helpful experiences include: Professional experience in lab-based or guerilla usability testing, and familiarity with CMS systems & concepts
Experience: Skills and AbilitiesMust be a detail-oriented user-interface/experience expert with deep knowledge of human factors and design technologies, including the latest interaction design modelsStrong knowledge of site layout & design principles.Demonstrated ability to execute IA of complex transactional interfaces and taxonomiesFluency with appropriate tools including Visio, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc., as well as the entire Microsoft Office suite.Deep knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology.Solid understanding of Web technologies (HTML, CSS, DHTML, AJAX, XML, XSL, etc.)Excellent written and verbal communications skills are a must; you will be working closely with inter-departmental teams on a daily basis.Comfortable in a fast-pace environment, working across multiple projects simultaneously.Must have the desire to work on new, innovative, cutting edge technologies.
