Technical Helpdesk Specialist in Dallas, TX

May perform one or more of the following:

Troubleshoots via the phone hardware, software, and network operating problems and involves technical resources to ensure resolution.

Applies understanding and knowledge of information systems products and services to assist users.

Identifies, investigates and researches user questions and problems as well as isolating and resolving information systems problems.

Coordinates referrals to appropriate technical, professional, or service personnel.

Receives and prioritizes issues and forwards using appropriate escalation procedures.

Duties:

Identifies potential information and network security vulnerabilities
Develops and implements solutions to mitigate risks and enhance system security
Investigates and recommends security technologies including firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection, VPN, and managed security services
Analyzes and resolves data, application, computer, and network security problems and issues
Administers security polices to control access to systems
All other duties as assigned


Job Complexity: Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.

Supervision: Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments

Experience: Requires a minimal of (2) years of related experience

Additional Skills: Position will be responsible for on-going “sustaining” engineering of third part security products including RSA SecuID and Cisco ACS. Engineering will include upgrades, feature enhancements, second & third level support.

Educational Requirements:

4 yr Bachelor of Science Degree (required)
Network+, Security+, or CISSP (required)
MCSE - Window Server 2003 (optional)
MCDBA (optional)

In addition to the above duties, the higher levels within this job family may also perform the following:

Provides functional or task leadership

Coordinates special projects and system upgrades

Briefs customers and/or management on the status of resolution efforts

Serves as a technical advisor to users with complex systems issues by resolving or conferring with technical personnel

Recommends system or process improvements, including procedures, training, and enhanced documentation
