General Summary
The Storage Architect is responsible for the overall architectural design, acquisition, and cost recovery of the storage environments.They will have input into the standardization of software and hardware used in the storage environments.They will work with the sales team and solution architects to make sure that the storage environments are properly sized for new customers, while also keeping up with existing environments growth and refresh cycles.They will work with vendors to keep up with new technology and provide input into which technologies will be utilized.

The Storage Team is a fast paced team supporting ACS’s dynamic storage environments.The ideal candidate will be someone who can work autonomously in project driven activities, interact well with customers and vendors, and work with a broad range of technology.

Major Responsibilities

1.Design multiple types of storage environments
2.Investigate and evaluate new technologies from multiple vendors
3.Determine best-of-breed solutions
4.Define service offerings:
a.Tiers of storage
b.Types of storage
c.Remote replication
d.SLAs associated with each service
5.Pricing for each service offered
6.Create cost models to recover the expenses of storage environments
7.Work with procurement and finance to fund and acquire storage equipment
8.Provide sales material to SBUs
9.Propose new solutions to accomplish one of the following objectives:
a.Reduce costs (hardware and operational efficiencies)
b.Improved service (better performance or reliability)

Education/Skills/Experience Required:

1.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required

2.General knowledge of service contracts, reporting, and Service Level Agreements as related to storages.

3. Requires at least 7-10 years experience in Storage Management with architectural and technical knowledge of the following:
a.Working understanding of the UNIX, AIX and/or SUN specific experience a plus
b.Basic knowledge of networking technologies.
c.Knowledge of EMC, HDS, SUN, IBM, and Brocade technologies
d.Storage networking technologies related to Storage Area Networks, to include fibre channel.

4.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and VISIO

5.Also needed are strong communication skills and the ability to work well with business users in a professional manner.
