Storage Engineer in Dallas, TX

General Summary
The Storage Engineer is responsible for the implementation and documentation of the Storage/SAN environments so they can be turn over to the operational staff to support.They will also be responsible for directing upgrades and the integration of new technology in these environments.Additionally, the individual will guide in the standardization of policies, processes, and procedures that are used in the storage/SAN environments.

The Storage Engineering Team is a fast paced group supporting ACS’s Storage/SAN environments.The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys project driven activities, developing new skills, and working with a broad array of technologies.

Major Responsibilities
1. Implement and document Storage/SAN environments and projects
2. Implement new technology into Storage/SAN environments
3. Direct software and hardware upgrades in storage/SAN environments
4. Define and document policies, processes, and procedures for use in the storage environments
5. Work with Storage Operations in project handoff in transition to production

Education/Skills/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required

General knowledge of service contracts, reporting, and Service Level Agreements as related to storage.

Requires at least 5-7 years experience in Storage Management with technical knowledge in the following:
o Multiple vendor arrays including IBM, EMC, Hitachi, HP and NetApp
o Knowledge of Brocade directors and switches, FOS, and Fibre channel protocols
o Understanding of Tiered storage and RAID levels
o Working understanding of the UNIX, AIX and/or SUN specific experience a plus
o Basic knowledge of networking technologies
o Experience in storage provisioning, masking, SAN zoning
o Understanding of storage/SAN trouble-shooting, utilization, performance, capacity planning

Knowledge of HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Linux operating systems is desired.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and VISIO

Should have knowledge of change control and service ticket requests. i.e. Peregrine, Remedy, etc...

Perl Scripting is a plus

Also needed are strong communication skills and the ability to work well with business users in a professional manner
