The Build Manager plays a vital role on the development team. This position maintains the team's daily build and test process and results. In the event of a failed build the Build Manager coordinates build failure recovery effort and keeps the team informed of its progress. The Build Manager also performs deployments to the various development environments and supports Release Management in the formal deployments to QA and Production. The Build Manager maintains a liaison with the Configuration Management group to ensure the build process meets all SWA mandates and requirements. Finally, as part of the overall agile mandate of software development at SWA the Build Manager is constantly challenged to continuously evaluate the efficiency of the build and test process propose improvements and optimizations as they are identified. Build optimizations approved by management are then implemented by the Build Manager.
Experience: Clearcase - 5 years
CruiseControl or BuildForge - 3 years (Build Automation Tools)
Experience in the role of "Build Manager" (preferably on Java projects) - 5 years
Bash - 1-2 years
Perl - 1-2 years
Basic understanding of Unix to be able to examine processes, file systems, memory consumption and cpu utilization as it pertains to the build process.
Ant - 3 years
Junit - 3 years
Experience with the Continuous Integration software development practice - 3 years
Must have excellent communication skills.
