IT Geological & Geophysical Analyst in Dallas, TX

Our Dallas client is looking to hire an IT Geological & Geophysical Analyst to join their growing team.Role:Design and document information workflow and make appropriate recommendations Primary IT support for Geological & Geophysical applications and data stores Project Manager for improvements, enhancements and upgrades Primary in-house trainer for new solutions and processes Primary liaison between the G&G business groups and IT Determine and evaluate various solutions Application support: Assists the business in developing IT tactical and strategic tools to support the business unit's goals Become expert in the operation of subsurface modeling applications and data interfaces, and act as primary support for these. Works closely with IT personnel and business partners to identify and maximize opportunities to use information and technology to improve subsurface modeling results and related processes. Consults with IT personnel to determine business, functional and technical requirements for specified applications. Coordinates the development of all approved versions of business and functional specifications for specified applications. Reviews use cases and other technical documents with IT project staff to ensure business requirements are adequately reflected in technical planning documents. GeoData support: Assists the business in developing geo data workflows and stores. Assists the business in developing geoscience project builds. PM (Project Management) duties: Act as subject matter expert (SME) for IT project initiatives as they relate to G&G applications. Quality assurance and testing: Works with developers/programmers to conduct testing prior to application upgrade implementation Ensures that all items follow the change management process and are entered and tracked through the change management procedures. Coordinates groups of business personnel for end user testing and manages end user sign-off. Ensures continuing operational quality by documenting bug fixes and enhancements. Qualifications:Minimum 7 years experience in the Petroleum/Oil or similar business. Minimum 7 years experience in business analysis and project management Strong understanding of technical geoscience data and methods. Advanced skills in technical geoscience applications. Advanced skills in geoscience data formats and databases. Minimum 7 years experience supporting geoscience applications and projects. Landmark ARIES application suite (or competitor suite). Education: BS degree preferred.
