IT Application Specialist II - SQL Server
JCPenney Headquarters - Plano, TX
Primary function of designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining SQL Server databases with the capability of some .NET development work as needed.
Responsibilities:
* Monitor and maintain current system applications database
* Performance tuning, transactions analysis, database sizing, capacity planning, back ups, and recovery.
* Develop SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, functions.
* Design, code, test, implement and document new .NET applications
* Interface with business user community and application developers to understand project requirements and meet user needs/expectations
* Perform research on systems the provide solutions for requested system enhancements.
* Estimate project activities and the amount of time to complete them
* Creating and Maintaining detail project schedules
* Developing and documenting Technical Design Documents
Qualifications:
* 8-10 years in systems planning and design for server/web applications
* A minimum of five years experience working with SQL Server 2000 (Table, Views, Stored Procedures, Triggers)
* Strong optimization, database sizing, capacity planning, back up, and recovery skills.
* Thorough understanding of indices and statistics (Query Optimizer)
* Excellent analytical, coding and testing skills (VB.Net)
* Ability to quickly and accurately perform troubleshooting and repair of applications
* Interest in enhancing skills and learning new technologies
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Ability to mentor other programmers
