SAN Engineer in DALLAS, TX

Robert Half Technology partnered with a high profile law firm to recruit and place a qualified SAN Engineer. Qualified candidates will have experience with SAN technology, including the major brands, Fiber Channels, RAID, SAN optimization, allocation and visualization and will have experience architecting, implementing and supporting a SAN production environment. Experience: The job role includes proactive administration of and provides support for firm?s storage area network (SAN), including installing, configuring, patching, testing, troubleshooting, supporting all aspects of SAN technology, (i.e., storage subsystems, SAN switches, and server-side adapters) in both a lab and production environment; architects, implements, and supports a stable and secure SAN production environment that follows industry best practices with emphasis on business continuity and disaster avoidance/recovery. The SAN Engineer will also architect, implement, and support a scalable storage design; architect, implement, and support SAN-based backup and replication; optimize SAN performance; establish, implement, and maintain procedures for storage allocation and optimization; review SAN performance data and develop action plans based on data. Required skills to perform this role include: strong knowledge of all aspects of SAN technology, (i.e., Fiber Channel, iSCSI, storage allocation, storage virtualization and optimization, RAID levels, etc.); hands-on experience with major brand SAN equipment and software; strong knowledge of SAN replication and disaster recovery over wide area networks and across multiple sites, especially as it pertains to MS Exchange 2003 and MS SQL 2000/2005 servers; strong knowledge of network communications standards and topologies; strong knowledge of Windows Server 2003 platform; knowledge of VMware ESX 2.5.x; knowledge of shared storage allocation for server clustering; knowledge of booting operating systems from the SAN; excellent communication skills as well as the ability to explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding; ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to meet business needs; knowledge of blade server technology.
