Overview of Position requirements
. 3-5 years engineering experience with a J2EE (Java) application server (preferably Websphere Application Server 6.x) and/or Corba application server (preferably Iona Orbix)
. Experience installing and managing these products in a Unix or Linux environment
. Capacity planning/performance management
. Experience with monitoring tools such as HPOpenview
. Proven experience using WebSphere Application Server Development Studio (WSAD) or Eclipse
. Working knowledge of enterprise web applications and supporting technologies, such as firewalls/routing/load balancing/single sign on, etc.
. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to methodically identify and resolve complex issues in the web services environment
. Apache administration skills
Non technical Skills
. Ability to communicate about highly complex technical issues with others in the organization at different technical skill levels
. Ability to work in a cross functional team and interact with technical People across the department
. Experience with disaster recovery processes and procedures
Nice to have skills
. Knowledge of additional Middleware layers (Webmethods, TIBCO ESB, Sonic ESB, etc)
. Experience specifically with Websphere in a Solaris or Linux environment
. 3-5 years experience administering messaging middleware software, preferably Tibco EMS or IBM MQSeries
. 3-5 years hands on Unix administration experience in a production environment
. Working knowledge of enterprise web applications and supporting technologies, such as firewalls/routing/load balancing, etc.
. Certified WAS administrator
. Understanding of Oracle databases
Non Technical Skills
. Ability to prepare a project plan and manage infrastructure upgrade and migration projects.
. Previous experience with the airline or transportation industry. Previous experience large scale, highly available production environment.
Job Responsibilities
. This is a seven member team with on call pager rotation every seven weeks. All team members participate equally in on-call duties during normal work hours.
. Other duties include installation, modification, configuration, and support for Websphere and Orbix. Candidate will participate as a member of various
. software development projects as the infrastructure contact for the development team. Ideal candidate should be detail oriented, cool under
. pressure and eager to provide positively outrageous Customer service primarily to the software developer community.
Team Information
. This team is responsible for the engineering and support activities for the middleware software products used to manage applications (Websphere and Orbix).
. All team members are expected to know enough about the environment that they can be interchanged periodically. This is done to balance workloads and
. to ensure that we don't encounter surprises while on call.
