Functional Description

A senior-level professional, the Infrastructure Management Sr. Analyst is a fully qualified individual contributor who applies an in-depth knowledge of systems programming/analysis concepts, practices and procedures.Incumbents are competent to work on complex assignments (including large/complex systems) and perform a full range of system storage operations administration activities.The incumbent generally works under deadlines and is capable of handling heavy workloads, operating with limited supervision; errors at this level can cause delay, expense and/or disruption.Provides functional guidance to less experienced staff. Provides functional and technical expertise to formulate computer system scope and objectives. Develops and/or modifies procedures to solve problems using information systems.Prepares detailed documentation for proposals, hardware/software recommendations, and storage administration processes computer operations/programs sequencing, performs multiple software functions and supports hardware platforms.Assignments are in technical, scientific and business functional areas.

REPESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

Provides technical support including, but not limited to, configuring hardware, performing hardware/software installations, troubleshooting and correcting H/W and S/W problems, and resolving day-to-day system problems for client/customer and/or ACS end-users.
Develops detailed documentation including the use of flowcharts, project specifications, diagrams to translate user requirements into programming language; develops/modifies illustrations of program sequences necessary to meet user requirements define user requirements and ACS processes and procedures.

Analyzes new and existing vendor software; provides installation, maintenance and customization of vendor software as required.

Develops and recommends alternative programming approaches to realize desired specifications and/or enhancements based on user requirements.Performs feasibility studies, life cycle analysis and/or cost/benefit studies.

Consults with end user to identify current operations procedures and clarify program objectives.

Monitors computer program performance to detect errors; applies testing procedures/methodologies (e.g., diagnostic software) and provides interpretation of data.

Provides input during client strategic planning as required as part of technical expertise.

May provide guidance to and assist in the training of less experienced staff; provides hardware/software training as required.

Maintain expert level industry/technical knowledge base and facilitates/maintains industry relationships.

Performs as a member of quick-response user-support team and generally works under deadlines, operating independently to resolve end-user problems.

Frequently communicates with customers and ACS end-users by phone, e-mail, and/or in-person.

Occasionally makes technical presentations to ACS management and/or clients.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Storage and SAN administration functions within a mission critical customer environment
- Problem resolution within contractual time constraints
- Capacity planning, utilization reporting, and performance monitoring / tuning
- Storage architecture development and engineering
- Technical consulting on storage solutions to customer application developers, database administrators, and others
- Evaluation, recommendation, and configuration of new hardware, firmware, and storage management software products
- Creation of operational procedures and documentation


Education and Typical Years of Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 5-7 years of progressively responsible related technical experience, including at least 2 years computer/systems design3 years SAN storage administration experience in a large-scale computer/systems environment and at least 1 month software installation, maintenance and customization experience.

Proficiency using personal computer and associated work station/computer-assisted tools, etc applications including Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Specific Requirements

- 3 years experience with EMC Symmetrix (preferred) or other enterprise-level storage arrays
- 3 years experience with EMC CLARiiON (preferred) or other mid-tier storage arrays
- 3 years experience with Storage Area Networks, including switches,
Management software and zoning
- Experience in a large SAN storage environment (200TB or larger)
- Project planning / management experience
- Volume manager and file system tools (Veritas VxVM; HP MirrorDisk/UX)
- Strong oral and written English language skills including experience creating written documentation for technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated customer relations skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while following documented processes and procedures

Experience in the following areas is desired but not required:

- EMC SRDF remote data replication
- EMC Enterprise Control Center installation and management experience
- Network Appliance (NetApp) storage experience, including data replication
- Experience reading and modifying Unix shell scripts
- Experience providing support to external customers
- Experience using Remedy or Service Center problem and incident management system
