For this full time position, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade computer hardware, software, personal computer networks, and peripheral equipment printers and phones; assess user training needs and train users in effective use of applications; make recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; prepare documentation and provide user assistance to facility staff; and perform related work as required.
Main activities
Provide 1st Level system applications and computer hardware support
Update help desk ticket system as work orders are completed
Make hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services
Install, configure and upgrade operating systems and software using standard business and administrative packages
Install, assemble and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware; **Ability to lift at least 50 lbs is a requirement.**
Act as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data
Assist in instructing users in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management
Assist the IT department with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Experience: College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science
2-3 years of experience in Help Desk support sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position as listed above
Knowledge of:
Computer hardware, software and peripherals such as central processing units, servers, monitors, cables, network systems, printers, plotters and modems
Functions, operations and technology related to business financial, business and administrative applications and related hardware and software
Current technology related to business applications, networks and telecommunications and the equipment and software required to maximize system support
Procedures for installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing applicable software, hardware and peripherals
Techniques for explaining technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users, familiar with Active Directory and Exchange environments
Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required
Ability to absorb and retain information quickly
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
