IT Application Specialist I
JCPenney Home Office, Plano, TX
Basic Function:
Design, develop, implement and maintain applications needed to support JCPenney departments and businesses in carrying out their Company responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
1. Design, code, test, implement and document new applications and system enhancements.
2. Maintain and support production systems, including rotational off-hours support.
3. Work with the business users and other IT groups to ensure system solutions meet user needs and expectations.
4. Research and understand business problems and provide thoughtful system solutions.
5. Provide thorough project estimates during high-level design, functional design and technical design phases and manage to project timelines.
6. Develop and document technical design documents.
Qualifications:
1. 5-7 years experience in systems development.
2. Experience in development and performance tuning of one or more of the following technologies: ASP, .Net, VB, Java, XML, Perl, Cobol, IBM Utilities
3. Experience in development and performance tuning of one or more of the following database technologies: Oracle, DB2 UDB, DB2 MVS, Teradata
4. Experience in SQL and stored procedure development
5. Experience with Unix and shell scripting
6. Experience with developing and using web services
7. Experience with messaging technologies such as MQ, ESB and Message Broker
8. Experience in supporting and extending third party and in-house applications
9. A self starter who can function as part of a team as well as autonomously
10. Excellent research and problem solving skills
11. Good written and verbal communications skills are a requirement
12. Ability to mentor other developers
