TITLE: IT INFRASTRUCTURE OPTIMIZATION CONSULTANT II JCPenney Home Office Plano, TX I. BASIC FUNCTION: Manages projects and executes the processes and methodologies used for performance management and construction of analytical models to forecast future resource requirements for all computing and network infrastructures in the JCPenney Co. II. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Identifies quantifiable system and application inefficiencies that recover hardware resources and/or improve overall performance. Follows up on remediation efforts. Constantly strives to eliminate unused excess capacity, thereby reducing planned budgeted capital expense. 2. Relates business plans to performance metric data using the most appropriate quantitative and analytic processes. 3. Mines performance metric data using state-of-the-art predictive analytic processes to establish quantifiable cause and effect relationships. Identifies utilization profiles, trends, and seasonality while recognizing the legitimacy of the selected metric data. 4. Manages projects and executes the processes and methodologies necessary to construct analytical models used to forecast future resource requirements and performance for all computing and network infrastructures for the Company. 5. Provides business plan based capacity forecasts on an ad hoc basis so current information is available for input into the next budget cycle. Conducts monthly and ad hoc appraisals of forecasted requirements versus actual results to enhance ROI on the computing and network infrastructures and identify performance impediments. Updates ad hoc forecast to keep forecast evergreen. 6. Prepares models based on predictable workload variability and business requirements. Manages the design, development, testing, and installation of new capacity planning and performance management tools and methodologies. 7. Identifies and remains current on changing capacity planning and performance management tools and methodologies, and ensures a high level of technical expertise and business awareness. 8. Analyzes, evaluates and issues results of all hardware upgrades and system changes quantifying impact to capacity throughput and performance. III. KEY RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Works closely with application and systems support staffs to ensure adequate resources are available to support the business. 2. Works with various teams in IT in planning hardware architecture life expectancy. 3. Communicates the status of efficiency opportunities to peer and senior management that will enhance hardware ROI.
