Server Admin JCPenney Home Office - Plano, TX Basic Function: Analyzes, designs, writes program code, tests, documents, and implements functionally appropriate, technically sound, and well-integrated custom and third party application systems in accordance with customer requirements and organizational methodologies and standards. Job Responsibilities: l. Responds to production program problems. Manages resolution of problems and escalates as required. Performs predictive, proactive root cause analysis 2. Analyzes and resolves problems of medium complexity. 3.Researches and recommends alternative actions for problem resolution with minimal direction. Analyzes trends to proactively prevent problems. 4.Analyzes, designs, programs viable solutions for medium complexity business problems according to user specifications and develops detailed program specifications. 5.Evaluates and recommends emerging technologies. Complies with project management methodology requirements as appropriate. Develops detailed program specifications for self and others. 6.Tests and implements systems and enhancements using techniques that meet generally accepted coding standards. Assists less senior engineers when performing system and acceptance testing. 7.Ensures that programs are functionally appropriate and technically sound. Understands interdependencies and acts to avoid problems. 8.Identifies process or systems enhancements for business customers. Develops accurate and reliable cost analysis estimates. Education: B.S./B.A. in computer science, engineering, information systems preferred, and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Experience: Position typically filled by candidate having 5-10 years' experience in one or more IT areas. Responsibilities: Manage web content and projects related to the website. This requires 24x7 on-call rotation. Perform code promotions and configuration changes to production and development servers. Analyze and troubleshoot code problems; recommend and implement corrective solutions. Perform system testing on various applications. Work with Project Managers and Developers to assess technical challenges with code and content changes. Research, test, and install bug fixes, patches, and upgrades. Build production and development servers. Install, use and troubleshoot Windows 2000/2003 platforms. Ensures that all installs meet established standards. Represent the Installation Management Support Group on special projects and committees. Qualifications: 5+ years experience in NT Enterprise Server Administration. Advanced experience with two or more of the following: NT Shell Scripting, VBScript/Vbasic, jScript, .NET, WMI, C++. Experience with full development lifecycle and content deployment methodologies. Moderate experience with SQL Server 2000 Administration and Trouble-shooting. (SQL2005 a plus) Experience with server hardware and OS installations. IIS Web Server Administration. Office 2000 - Word, Excel, Project-use of tools as well as admin experience. Project Management experience. Strong troubleshooting skills. Exceptional people skills.
