Jr. Software Developer/Engineer JCPenney Home Office - Plano, TX Position Description The Payment Systems Authorizations Group is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join our team of developers. This group is responsible for the maintenance and development related to the authorization of all types of payments excluding cash in all of JCPenney's selling channels providing +99.99% availability 24x7x365. Our applications span several platforms; HP Non-Stop mid-range for our real-time authorization systems, mainframe for data retention, to Web based applications for Business and Operational management functions. This position provides opportunities in all these areas. Our team members are expected and encouraged to work with our clients not only to understand the business needs, but to lead clients to solutions that solves both the business and technical needs of JCPenney and its customers. Position Requirements 1. Degree in Computer Science. 2. 0 to 5 years programming experience. 3. Good communication skills both written and oral. Eager to express idea's and participate in team projects. 4. Comfortable in speaking with clients regarding business requirements and communicate technical issues in business terms. 5. Good reasoning and problem determination skills is a requirement. 6. Experience in real-time transactional applications is a plus. 7. Flexibility/Ability to move from one platform to another is a requirement. 8. Working Knowledge of Cobol and C is a plus. 9. Experience in HTML/CGI programming is helpful. 10. Mainframe experience is helpful. 11. Experience in Unix environments is a plus. 12. Experience in and understanding of payment processing is a plus.
