Network Engineer in Dallas, TX
This position will participate in the installation, monitoring and maintenance of any and all network equipment. The primary network equipment vendor is Cisco and includes but is not limited to swiches, routers, VPN appliances and firewalls. The candidate will also be working with network carriers and WAN services which are primarily comprised of Frame Relay technologies. Internet services are also included in the scope of support. In addition, the candidate will be required to support fiber and copper cabling infrastructures. This position will also participate in the ongoing administration of multiple Management/Monitoring Tools, including HP OpenView-Network Node Manager, CiscoWorks, SolarWinds etc. The successful candidate will also perform protocol analysis for trouble shooting with the use of packet capturing tools i.e. Sniffers, probes etc. This position will participate in a 24x7 on call support and require some off hour and weekend work. The successful candidate will also need to have good written and oral communication skills in the English language. Finally, the successful candidate will be required to perform all work activities in compliance with the Quality System, Change and FDA regulated policies and procedures. Design, installation and change activities associated with LAN/WAN and related infrastructure. Problem management, problem determination and resolution. Develop and maintain technical procedures and documentation and administrative activities. Experience: The successful candidate will need 5 years experience as a Network Engineer supporting Cisco prodcuts with specific focus on Routers, 6509 switches and PIX firewalls. It is expected the candidate will have a CCNA or CCNP level certification (CCIE is a definate bonus). Analytical skills, including the ability to understand and convey complex technical information is crucial. Knowledge of networking, primarily TCP/IP LAN protocol and Frame Relay WAN protocol are required along with proven skills in prtocol analasys including all layers of the OSI model. Also, experience in VRF and MPLS are very desirable. Knowledge of ATM, VoIP (especially Cisco) would be a bonus. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
