Sr. COBOL / DB2 Tech Lead in Dallas, TX
Sr. COBOL/DB2 Technical Lead JCPenney Home Office - Plano, TX Basic Function: Develop and support complex Financial and Inventory applications, including gathering/analyzing business requirements, designing systems solutions to business problems, coding and testing the solutions. Provide technical leadership and coaching for the entire team, as well as other IT teams within the company. Principal Responsibilities: 1. Develop and support Financial and Inventory applications, including Stock Ledger, Central Inventory Accounting System, Cash Reports and Trickle Sales Collection. 2. Perform lead role in DB2 DBA functions for the team. 3. Provide technical leadership in the most complex technical projects and develop short and long term solutions, ensuring project schedules are met as well as project budgets. 4. Provide leadership to ensure the most advantageous technical and/or business solutions are selected and implemented to best achieve the business goals. 5. Provide technical leadership to onsite and offshore contractors, as well as other JCP junior and senior team members. 6. Interface with the business community and IT management. Good aptitude for understanding the business user community and their IT needs. 7. Excellent problem solving skills in order to perform research on complex systems problems and provide solutions for requested system enhancements. 8. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. 9. Ability to work effectively in a strong customer service / team-oriented environment. Knowledge and Skills: 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field desired. 2. 10-15 years experience in application systems planning and design and programming required. Proven experience in all phases of software development lifecycle and project management within a variety of technologies and applications. Experienced Team Lead. 3. Ability to quickly come up to speed on the existing Financial and Inventory applications through Knowledge Transfer sessions with current SME's and self-directed information gathering skills. 4. Mainframe high degree of expertise in COBOL, Advanced SQL and DB2 Application Development required; minimum ten years. 5. Certified DB2 UDB V8.1 for Z/OS Database Administrator or equivalent experience in creating, maintaining and tuning DB2 databases on Z/OS. 6. Excellent problem solving, analytical, coding and testing skills. 7. Ability to work independently on multiple tasks concurrently or as part of a team. 8. Interest in enhancing skills and learning new technologies. 9. Knowledge and experience with IBM DB2 UDB(LUW) on AIX with Kornshell scripting desirable. 10.
