Web Developer with GIS experience in DALLAS, TX

Our innovative partner needs you! They are looking for a strong Web Developer with extensive GIS and VB.NET experience to develop air dispersion modeling software. This company works with developing software for natural disasters. Functional Responsibilities

1. Development - Apply latest Microsoft software design principles and standards to develop best-in-class software products. Provide accurate time estimates on projects and identify risks with each alternative. Prepare sophisticated, maintainable, scaleable, well-documented, and reusable code. Identify and use tools, techniques, and teammates to shorten time to market. Maintain knowledge of latest software development techniques and trends. Deliver products on time and on budget. Help prepare and review user documentation.

2. Product Knowledge - Work with product team and customers to understand and develop desktop and Internet software solutions to meet specific customer, market, and regulatory requirements. Understand the models and end-user requirements.

3. Support - Ensure the timely resolution of pre- and post-sales customer software support issues. Communicate product defects and problems to entire team and deliver timely updates. Prepare release notes clearly stating bug fixes, enhancements, and limitations of each release.

4. Testing - Test work thoroughly before submitting it for review and identify areas of concern to other testers.

5. Training - Provide product training to internal and external customers.

6. Consulting Services - Perform consulting services and custom software development projects that enrich product knowledge and complement short-and long-term product development goals.

7. Papers - Publish and present white papers relating to software product technology and application.

8. Documentation – Assist in the authoring of software user documentation.

Experience: The ideal Web Developer will have advanced knowledge and experience in VB.NET development. This will be mostly web-based applications. The Web Developer will also possess GIS experience and knowledge. Other experience that will suffice for GIS includes: Google Maps and/or Google Earth, GPS development and any environmental science background. In addition, any Web Developer candidate will have intermediate Photoshop skills and Dispersion Models Experience in at least one of the following: AERMOD, ISCST3, CALPUFF, SCIPUFF, DEGADIS.
