Linux Systems Administrator! in Dallas, TX

Our client is currently looking for a Linux Systems Administrator with experience with the technologies outlined below. Responsible will include managing the day-to-day operations of the environment (servers, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) outlined below. This includes troubleshooting issues, performing routine tasks, such as back-ups, performance tuning, user provisioning, server provisioning, reconfiguration of the systems for business needs, etc.


Environment:
Approximately 100 Windows and Linux servers. EMC storage. Approximately 400 user environment, but the infrastructure supports 500,000 customers. Limited security infrastructure and relatively small network infrastructure.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is going to be a jack of all trades (good mid-level knowledge, but doesn’t have to be ultra deep) with some experience in servers (Linux and Windows), some experience with Cisco ASA or PIX firewalls/VPNs, and some experience with traditional LAN/WAN networking.

Experience: Skill Set:

&#149; Linux (preferably SUSE) administration background. Able to administer Linux systems and able to configure common services such as DNS, SMTP, WWW, LDAP, NIS, etc&#133;.
&#149; Experience with LAMP architectures (Linux / Apache / MySQL / PHP) from the systems side, i.e. being able to setup and support all of these components. No development experience is required, but scripting is a plus.
&#149; Familiar with writing Unix/Linux scripts with languages such as PERL, C++, etc&#133;
&#149; Solaris administration and engineering a plus.
&#149; Windows 2003 server including ancillary components such as Active Directory and Exchange.
&#149; Fiber-channel storage or ISCSI storage including EMC, Hitachi, Equallogic, Lefthand, Dell, IBM, etc&#133;. storage area networks (SAN).
&#149; Networking including administering Dell or Cisco switches including to deploying new routers and switches, reconfiguring routers and switches for VLANs, port configurations, configuration backups, monitoring, Quality of Service, WAN connectivity, network troubleshooting, and knowledge of wireless LANs.
&#149; Network security including working with firewalls (preferably Cisco), VPNs (preferably Cisco), some system security (hardening operating systems), and familiar with other security controls such as content filtering, anti-virus, etc&#133;.
