Senior Database Administrator - Oracle & DB2 UDB DBA in Dallas, TX

Our Dallas based client has multiple technologies and platforms across their organization. They need a Senior Database Administrator to provide database administration, performance tuning, and mentoring. This Candidate MUST have recent ORACLE database administration, design, development, implementation, and support experience. Candidate must also have IBM DB2 UDB database administration experience. In this role, the candidate will the cornerstone of the enterprise's DBA team working with experts on multiple technologies. You will have the ability to learn about other host and client/server databases (data warehousing, SQL Server, ERP, ETL tools, Reporting tools, etc). The existing environment is Oracle, 10g, where you will oversee production environment and the Enterprise Data Warehouse. You will also be responsible for the initial install of the DB2 UDB EEE environment! This is a great opportunity to extend your current skills and learn new technologies! You will be working with team members to perform product upgrades, application upgrade, design / development of applications databases, and ongoing production support of ORACLE application database systems. Some of your work requirements will consist of performing tasks associated with the development, support, and tuning of ORACLE application database systems. In depth knowledge on ORACLE is required to develop and maintain the various application databases. Experience working with ORACLE administration tools is required. Application / Business analysis to develop database design (logical & physical models). Will have close working relationships with application teams and users in the design, development, tuning and problem resolution of database services. The DBA defines data architecture standards, policies, and procedures for the organization, structure, attributes, and nomenclature of data elements. Applies accepted data content standards to technology projects. Oversee security awareness programs and provide education on security policies and practices. Experience: Minimum Skills: - 10+ years Information Technology experience - 5+ years knowledge of ORACLE database administration;- 2+ years knowledge of IBM DB2 UDB database administration;- 5+ years analysis, design, and development experience; Required Skills: - database administrative tools, utilities, recovery products and performance products; - efficient coding and tuning of SQL; - effective customer communications; - Structure modifications and impact analysis;- Extensive database Backup, Recovery and Continuous Availability expertise;- Extensive knowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning procedures; - Able (or willing) to install DB2 UDB environment; - Skilled in UNIX Shell scripting for database task automation;- Solid SQL skills including ability to rewrite complex queries for performance improvement;- Able to architect databases, including intricate capacity, memory, data sizing, and disk layouts;- Highly skilled in complex troubleshooting and problem resolution methods - Fluent in the American English Language - Able to prioritize and multi-task Desired - Understanding of data warehouse architecture, administration, and problem resolution; - Installation experience with IBM DB2 UDB;- Skilled in Host performance techniques; - Linux operating system;- Ability to read and interpret Logical and Physical data modeling - Ability to thoroughly document processes This is an exciting, dynamic company, with a wonderful work environment!
