Job DescriptionNetwork Architect/ Systems Engineer will be the subject matter expert for architecting, testing, implementing, and troubleshooting an enterprise network in support of common business applications and objectives. The Network Architect will lead the design and implementation of projects supporting and enhancing a network with 1000+ sites and over 50,000 users ensuring systems meet appropriate availability criteria. The position requires leadership and mentoring of team members in the lifecycle support of the network and the management systems while working with the operations teams to improve system availability and efficiencies. • Responsible for scheduling, installation, configuration, support and lifecycle management of all network devices, including, routers, switches, load balancers, and WAN optimizers. • Capacity planning of the network by monitoring and analyzing network, performance and availability. • Proactively research and evaluate tools and technologies as appropriate to the network environment while developing solutions to increase performance and lower the total cost of ownership. • Develop and maintain documentation for the implementation and support procedures of existing systems and new technologies in the network. • Develop and maintain documentation for the implementation and support procedures of existing systems and new technologies in the network. • Provide tier III support by providing trouble resolution, of the network infrastructure. and perform on-call duties and off-hours support when needed. • Must be able to obtain a DOD security clearance.BEST INDUSTRY – Government CommunicationsBEST DEPARTMENT – Network Engineering
Experience: BSEE, BSCE or BSCS with communications focus is required. Minimum of 12+ years of relevant networking experience is required. NO EXCEPTIONS!Must have proven ability to architect, implement and support network infrastructure solutions of similar scope. Excellent troubleshooting skills with network protocols such as: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DHCP, HSRP VRRP, MPLS IEEE 802.1q, 802.3 and 802.1x. Experience implementing WAN technologies including T1, DS3, OC3, OC12, OC48 and metro-Ethernet is required.Metro Ethernet transport over SONET infrastructure including ITU VCAT and LCAS standards is required.Support of large scale multi-homed (two or more ISPs) Internet Access Points is required.Implementation and support of network management systems including support of SNMP & NETFLOW. Familiar with facilities management such as power and heat load calculations and UPS sizing. Preferred Additional Skills: Minimum of CCNP or CCDP certification highly preferred. Excellent customer skills for direct interaction or internal and external teams will be essential in this role.Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
