HP-UX Administrator in Dallas, TX

Should have a good working knowledge of operating system concepts to provide performance tuning and timely problem resolution. Client currently maintains 34 HP business servers consisting of some L-class, A500, rp2470, rp5470, rp7400 and an rp8400. Client is a centralized support group. All of the UNIX servers reside in the international headquarters computer room so there is no travel.

Will be supporting the following projects:

  • Developing and integrating new tape backup devices and possibly a new backup software solution.
  • Research and implement a new backup software solution.
  • Disk storage administration on current SANs.
  • UNIX server replacements.

    This environment supports the SAP business applications and runs Oracle databases. Some experience with these applications is a plus but not required.

    You will be on call with a pager 24/7. Hours are Monday Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and Sunday Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 P.M.

    Experience:

  • Current hands-on working skills with HP-UX systems for 4 years within the last 6 years.
  • Experience with SAN environments with Fabric/Looped switches/hubs.
  • EMC (Symmetrix)
