The JAVA/C++ Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation and support of client Business Intelligence technology solutions. Development of these solutions includes data and application integration utilizing complex relational databases, SOA Services and third party ETL, Campaign Management, BI, Reporting and Dashboard tools.
The JAVA/C++ Engineer is expected to be proficient in the utilization of software development languages such as Java and C++ and third-party tools to implement client solutions based on documentation and specifications. They are expected to provide front-line implementation and problem support to the client teams.
Role/Responsibility:
. Provides estimates, delivery timing and status for assigned project tasks.
. Adheres to specified software development guidelines and methodologies.
. Contributes to the design process based on knowledge and experience with software development languages, architectures and tools.
. Utilizes appropriate programming languages and tools to develop new solutions or make modifications to existing solutions based upon requirements and specifications.
. Works with DBA to ensure optimal solution integration with RDBMS.
. Responsible for unit testing of all newly developed or modified solution components. May also include integration testing as required by project.
. Participates with QA team in test plan development, provides assistance with test configuration and reviews final test results.
. Supports problem resolution for client teams.
Requirements:
. Working knowledge and practical experience in the development and implementation of software systems (Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is a plus).
. Practical experience with relational databases (Oracle) and accessing data using SQL, and ETL tools such as AB Initio and Informatica
. Experience developing and implementing business intelligence solutions utilizing SOA, Java, C++, CORBA, Web Services and third party tools.
. Java Development Experience:
. Experience with J2EE (Websphere experience is a plus)
. Experience with JMS integration/configuration
. Experience in development of Web Services
. C++ Development Experience:
. Experience with C++ on both Windows and Unix environments (UNIX is a must)
. Integration with CORBA is a plus (especially Orbix implementation)
. CORBA Experience:
. Experience compiling CORBA IDL's (preferably with Orbix implementation)
. Understanding of multi-platform environments including UNIX, AIX and Windows.
. Exposure to Data Warehouse methodology and techniques (Data Mining and Reporting).
. Familiarity with PowerBuilder is a plus.
. Experience integrating with TIBCO (application level) is a plus.
. Network programming experience (TCP/IP) is a plus.
. Knowledge of UNIX scripting languages (e.g. PERL) is a plus.
. Knowledge of website setup/development/HTML is a plus.
