JAVA Developer - 1964 in Dallas, TX

Responsible for the detail design documentation, development, unit testing and maintenance of planned and unplanned internally developed applications created for business partners.

Developers are also responsible for the design documentation, evaluation and system performance testing of externally purchased software products against major business processes and specifications. Write code for a range of simple to moderately complex system designs.

Write programs that span platforms. Code to and/or create Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Write code for enhancing existing programs or developing new programs. Review code developed by Stage I Developers.

Provide input to / drive programming standards. Can read and understand system and functional requirements. Write detailed technical specifications for subsystems. Identify integration points. Report missing elements found in system and functional requirements to other Stage I Developers, Stage II Developers, BAs and Architects, plus able to explain impacts on subsystem. Consult with Stage I, II and III Developers, plus BAs, architects and vendors to some degree.

"Scope" time, resources, etc., required to complete programming projects. Seek review from Stage III Developer, SA and/or Project Managers on estimates. Perform unit testing and debugging. Set test conditions based upon code specifications. May need assistance from Stage II or III Developer and other team members to debug more complex errors.

Supports transition of application throughout the Product Development life cycle. Document what has to be migrated. May require more coordination points for subsystems. Review vendor research. Conducts vendor product gap analysis / comparison.

Understanding of OOD (Java, HTML, XML, Java Script and Patterns) and impact to the development process. Understanding of web development methodologies, application design, navigation, and information architecture. Experience in the writing of detailed technical documentation, specifically business requirements and functional specifications. Experience with facilitating JAD sessions or other requirements gathering processes.

Preferred: Extensive knowledge of the health care/payer/insurance industry, specifically claims processing systems, provider office operations, and customer service processes in a health care company. Experience with data modeling, relational databases, data structures and design. Experience working with Product and Business Management teams. Experience working in an entrepreneurial company.

Rate of pay determined by experience.
Experience: 1-3 years of progressive work experience designing business processes, process mapping, working on process improvement initiatives and business system design. Testing experience is a plus. Must have a basic demonstrated proficiency using PC skills, MS Suite products, and flowcharting tools. Must have a basic demonstrated proficiency using email and electronic scheduling calendars. Strong relationship management and collaboration skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently under minimal guidance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, supporting CEO and other team members. Demonstrated ability to use discretion and make sound decisions. Ability to work under pressure. Maintains composure and professionalism in an interrupt-driven environment.
