Cognos Developer / Administrator in Dallas, TX

This position will serve as the primary Cognos Developer/Administrator for a new Data Warehousing and Reporting initiative currently underway. The Cognos Developer/Administrator will be responsible for both development and delivery of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions & related components as well as the administration of the Cognos 8 server environment. The Cognos Developer/Administrator should understand business challenges & be able to translate them into requirements/solutions. The Cognos Developer/Administrator should have experience designing, developing and implementing complex Cognos 8 solutions; relational and multi-dimensional data models and administering the Cognos 8 environment. 10 - 20% travel during the first year only. Responsibilities:

Create, modify and customize metadata packages from data warehouse

Develop and deploy reporting views and reports using Cognos 8

Contribute to development of best practices for using Cognos tools

Mentor other team members in building Cognos skills

Act as primary contact to Cognos for support and enhancement issues

Provide expert assistance and training to report developers and business analysts

Take ownership of Cognos architecture and development approach

Operate both independently and within a team

Translate functional requirements into reporting requirements and subsequent reports

Support user acceptance testing. Experience: *** US Citizens, Green Cards or EADs only. Will not consider candidates with heavy consulting experience. *** Required Experience:

3+ years of experience in an IT or consulting capacity role

3+ years total Cognos experience

1+ years experience with Cognos 8 framework modeling and report development (Cognos 8 knowledge and experience is a strong plus).

Ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise and resolve issues in timely fashion

Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines

Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Cognos Experience:

Cognos 8 Query Studio

Cognos 8 Analysis Studio

Cognos 8 Framework Modeling

Cognos 8 Transformer Modeling

Cognos Security Preferred Technical Experience:

MDX and XML skills (not required, but a strong plus.)

SQL Server administration (not required, but a strong plus.)

Data Warehousing Knowledge (not required, but a strong plus.)

Proficiency in SQL

Familiarity with Windows 2003

Knowledge of Windows Technologies like Word, Excel and Access

Experience working with Development and Production environments

LDAP and Active Directory Server (ADS) Experience

Familiarity with Internet Information Services (IIS) Web Hosting Preferred Non-Technical Experience:

Ability to communicate effectively with the business users in creating reporting requirements documentation,

Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects and issues at the same time
