JOB DESCRIPTION: Microsoft Systems Administrator Contract-to-Hire Location: Euless, TX Summary description: This individual will work on site at FSMB to provide the most operable and functional computer experience that is possible with available resources. This will include the daily management and maintenance of approximately 40 Microsoft servers including, but not limited to: HP ProLiant servers running Microsoft 2000/2003 operating systems and VM(Virtual Machine) servers. Maintenance and systems management will extend to the clients stations, where there are approximately 180 Intel-based Pentium PC's running the Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating system. Position will require in-depth understanding of Active Directory and Exchange, including server installation and administration. This position provides support/administration of the in-house phone system. The PBX is currently an Avaya Definity G3 switch, communicating through numerous T1 and DID trunks. Applicants should have wiring and related maintenance skills. In addition, the individual should be able to work with OEM's as needed to fix any problems, and strive to prevent problems before they arise. This position is responsible for the following: Provide a pleasant user experience through optimization of Microsoft systems. Daily maintenance of Windows 2000/2003 servers housed at the FSMB and ATT data center. Support of newly implemented systems, and training of helpdesk to assist in support areas. Recommend and implement hardware and software changes as needed for continued efficiency of FSMB's operation while maintaining cost-efficiency. Coordinate projects such as software installations. Also assist with all upgrades. Provide support for server and client-side issues escalated by helpdesk staff. Keep up to date' on current technologies, recommend more efficient ways to increase production and decrease downtime. Member of Livelink Team, assist with maintenance, upgrades, and inter-operability issues. Inform, suggest, and implement new functionality using both existing and new technologies. Serve as backup to both Network Engineer and Junior Systems Administrator, assist with desktop support as needed. Other projects as assigned by the Network Engineer and Director of Information Services Education, experience, and skills requirements: Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent industry experience preferred. At least three years hands-on experience in: Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server. Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003. Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS). VMWare Server products. MCSA or MCSE Certification is preferred. Windows XP / Vista Clients. In-depth Intel-based PC technology knowledge. TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, and DHCP services. PBX operations (Includes Definity and Audix voicemail administration). Detail oriented. Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Must be self-motivated, and be able to work alone as well as part of a team. In addition, candidates must be available to work after hours & weekends often, anytime maintenance or upgrades are scheduled.
