Payroll Supervisor in Dallas, TX

Primarily responsible for supervision and coordination of the activities of payroll administrators and overseeing the payroll process for the corporation to ensure compliance with to company policy, government regulations, and tax codes.

Responsible for selection, training, and evaluation of payroll administrators and senior payroll administrators.

Develops, coaches, mentors, and leads payroll administrators for sustained individual and team performance.

Assigns duties and examines work for neatness, accuracy, and compliance with company and department policies and procedures.

Oversees the entire weekly payroll process, including receipt of TMX files and timesheets, adjustments made by payroll administrators, calculation and confirmation of pay, and creation of paychecks.

Oversees the distribution of paychecks and arranges direct deposit programs.

Runs queries and reports to audit payroll information before, during, and after the payroll process to ensure that all information in the PeopleSoft system and on the paychecks is accurate. Takes appropriate action to correct any errors and create systems and processes to ensure accuracy moving forward.

Prepares audit and ad-hoc reports to verify data integrity and to communicate issues and concerns with executive team.

Audits data entry of Corporate and Management Call Trackers and Personnel Action Notices.

Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, taxes to be withheld and employee identification number from time sheets and other records. Enters data into computer files or computes wages, deductions, and posts to payroll records.

Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.

Ensures that computing, withholding, or deductions associated with net pay are done properly.

Conducts review of garnishments.

Reviews, approves, and records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, pay adjustments and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records.

Records data for transfer of employees between departments and locations.

Researches, prepares, and approves special check requests and submits for final approval.

Reviews wage & benefit reports. Monitors of compliance with regulatory requirements related to compensation and garnishments.

Supports payroll/HR system initiatives by becoming involved in the daily support of systems and processes, as well as assisting/participating in projects as requested by the Director of Payroll, including the implementation of new functionality, system processes, upgrades or system conversions, including quality assurance, parallel testing of any application changes, and development of procedures and training.

Other projects and duties as assigned.

Experience: Requires Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; or 3 - 5 years of payroll experience in multi-state environment preferably multi unit retail; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-2 years supervisory experience required. Experience processing payroll for Canadian employees a plus. Previous PeopleSoft processing required. Experience with PeopleSoft 8.0 or higher preferred. Must have strong understanding of payroll practice, taxes, laws and general ledger interface. Strong communication and customer service skills needed. Participation in systems implementation a plus
